The Importance of Sunscreen
 
How sunscreen/sunblock to protect the skin from the sun? What is the SPF?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. If the skin is flammable, it should wear sunscreen or sunblock to be able to stay in the sun longer without burning. By continuing to burn the skin can cause premature aging, sun spots or black spots, and skin cancer.

The sun emits three tipes of ultraviolet (UV) rays : UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVA is less intense than UVB but can penetrate clouds and glass and cause skin aging and wrinkling. UVB skin superficial (outer) layer, causing redness of the skin, sunburns and skin cancer development. UVC is not of particular concern because it will be absorbed by the ozone layer and do not reach the earth's surface.
Why use a sunscreen or sunblock?
Sunscreen or sunblock to the skin acts as a barrier from the sun's damaging rays. Although not 100% protect skin from the sun, because it is still a small amount of UV radiation reaching our skin. By using sunscreen or sunblock as a barrier, will help protect from skin damage, aging, wrinkles, and even cancer.
Basics of sunscreen or sunscreen : Sunscreen comes in many forms including creams, sprays, and lotions. They are labeled with a sun protection factor number (SPF) which acts as a guide to their relative strength.
For example, an SPF 15 filters 93% of UVB, allowing penetration of 7% on the skin, while SPF 30 filters 97% of UVB rays, allowing the penetration of 3% on the skin. Sunscreen or sunscreens labeled as broad spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
It is recommended to use a sunscreen with at least SPF 15 to protect against UVB rays. Sunscreen option that best suits your skin tipe and daily activities. There are also sunscreens that contain ingredients that are more suitable for sensitive skin.
Even in winter, it is important to use sunscreen or sunblock, especially when doing outdoor activities, because 80% of the sunlight reflected, making it much more dangerous for the skin.
Apply sunscreen 20-30 minutes before sun exposure to allow sufficient time for the skin to absorb it. May we understand the importance of sunscreen for skin health.
